To support and enhance the International Studies program by
providing opportunities enriching the Spanish cultural education of the IS
Spanish students, our teachers, and the SIPA membership community.
We accomplish our purpose by providing funding to programs and events that encourage
the study and use of the Spanish language and develops awareness and appreciation
for the Spanish culture, history and customs and by collaborating and advising
the administration and leadership of the IS Spanish program in the
The Spanish International Parents Association (SIPA) was established in April 1990 at Sunset Elementary School.
SIPA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of parents. It serves as a support group for the Spanish section of the International Studies Program of Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Spanish Ministry of Education in the Consulate of Miami.
Entering its 26th year, the International Studies Program was created in 1989 by a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Spain and the Public School System of Miami-Dade County in Florida.
The IS Program is a highly demanding curriculum that allows the IS Students who complete the program through the 12th grade to receive a “Bachiller” degree from the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Spain and a High School diploma from the State of Florida.
